Gwyneth Paltrow recently declared that a collagen ‚heating treatment‘ had taken ‚years‘ off her face.

Known by the brand name Exilis, it uses a combination of ultrasound and radio frequency waves to heat underlying layers of skin to the temperature of a hot cup of tea. Apparently, this breaks down worn-out collagen and stimulates the production of fresh, new healthy proteins.

For my first session at Jan Stanek’s London clinic, no anaesthetic is needed but it’s like having the back of a boiling hot spoon massaged over my face.

Afterwards, I look like I have a mild case of sunburn, but the redness subsides in an hour or two.

To get full benefits, I will need four sessions.
